Malawi President Peter Mutharika has confirmed that three people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the country. 

As various reactions follow against the spreading coronavirus in the country, some human rights organizations have written the judiciary and the Malawi Prison Services asking that more prisoners be released.

Flag carrier Malawian Airlines has in response to recent restrictions that countries are making suspended some flights, a decision analaysts describe as a huge economic blow. 

The United Nations education scientific and cultural organization-UNESCO has cancelled its planned launch of the 2020 global education monitoring report due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

 However, some public institutions in the country have started planting handwashing tubes around their premises. For instance, at the Polytechnic in Blantyre, insight is basins with soap that people are using to clean their hands.
