‘What we are lacking as far as tourism is concerned is activities, if people visit Salima what are they going to do? So for me the porter’s race was a combination of the things we have been lamenting about that we do not just want to go to Mulanje but we want to go to Mulanje and do something, so today has been very different and exciting and am very happy,’’ she said.
On his part, Malawi National Council of Sports Board Chairperson Dr Sunduzwayo Madise hailed the nature of the race describing it as one of the best athletic events in the country
Meanwhile, committee chairperson Kondwani Chamwala said resources collected during the race will be used to support communities that fell victim to Cyclone Freddy earlier this year.
