Tobacco authorities say they will soon resume daily sales for Kanengo auction floors as volumes have picked up at the market.
This is because there’s been an improvement in volumes of tobacco coming to the market – weeks after suspension of the daily auctions to three days a week.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Telephorus Chigwenembe – spokesperson for Tobacco Commission said there is an increase in volumes of tobacco being taken to the floors from less than 3,000 bales per day to over 6, 000 bales per day.
He added that the positive change will necessitate the need to open the floors from Monday to Friday.
According to Chigwenembe, this is an indication of readiness by growers to take their leaf to the market and a successful market season ahead.
