Agriculture experts have rated the Tonse administration poorly in its efforts towards improving the agriculture sector.
The month of June marks exactly three years since Malawi held its first-ever fresh presidential election, in 2020 on June 23rd.
Among others, the Tonse administration, made a string of promises, ranging from the establishment of mega farms to cutting down the cost of fertilizer.
However, Ronald Chilumpha, an agriculture expert has told MIJ Online that the Tonse government has failed to walk the talk.
According to Chilumpha, three years down the line government is yet to fully establish the mega farms and that it has also failed to make the prices of fertilizer affordable.
With this, Chilumpha has said there is need for authorities to review some of its major promises and have them implemented if they are to win back the lost trust from the people.
Meanwhile, Moses Kunkuyu, Government’s Spokesperson has attributed the failure by Tonse administration to implement some of its policies to challenges that have rocked the country for the past three years.
