Khumbo Kachale disowns Facebook post on corruption fight

Malawi’s former Vice President, Khumbo Kachale, who is also president for Freedom Party has distanced himself from a Facebook post which is calling on president Lazarus Chakwera not to shield top government officials who are suspected of corruption.

The post, purportedly published by, “Khumbo Hastings Kachale” is of the view that the Tonse administration has relaxed in the fight against corruption.

“Failure to act on top notch public officers tainted in a corruption scandal is one such indicator that we have turned back on our promises to the people of Malawi.” reads part of the post.

But when reached for a comment on the said post, Kachale has told MIJ Online that he is not the one who has published the post and does not own a social media account.

“That is not me, I don’t have a social media account.” said Kachale.

This comes at a time different Organizations have been pressuring president Chakwera to fire Lands Minister, Kezzie Msukwa for being suspected of corruption land deals.
