Government has revealed that the country requires 1.5 trillion kwacha to revive tourism-related infrastructure development.
This revelation has been made as the country is holding a two-day Malawi International Tourism Expo in Lilongwe.
Speaking to MIJ Online, Jacob Hara, Minister of Transport and Public Works said the country requires 1.5 trillion kwacha to reconstruct facilities such as roads and airports which are key in promoting tourism industry.
Hara has since indicated that Malawians government has initiated massive nationwide plans on roads construction which will require them to also utilize support from the donor community.
In making a remark, Vera Kamtukule, Minister of Tourism has said government acknowledges the need to make huge investment in tourism to support the economy.
