A child welfare agency SOS has raised a red flag on the need for psychological support towards children affected by Cyclone Freddy.
Besides; SOS children’s villages Malawi has also rung an alarm on food insecurity, malnutrition and potential outbreak of waterborne diseases.
Smart Namagonya, National director for the organization has linked the potential threat to the washing away of farmlands and water and sanitation facilities.
Meanwhile, the organization continues to support Cyclone Freddy survivors with relief and humanitarian aid; the latest being Chikwawa district.
“But the donations aside, it’s also time to empower those affected so they recover and rebuild their lives,” says Namagonya.
Meanwhile, Michael Nyoni programs director for SOS has told MIJ Online they were noticing strange psychological behaviors that needed attention to help the children regain their psychological uprightness.
