Nsanje council to approve project on community empowerment

The Nsanje District Executive Council Committee has allowed the Malawi Economic Justice Network (Mejn) to implement a pilot project dubbed Building Gender Responsive and Climate Financing Mechanisms for Sustainable Communities, which is being described as worthwhile towards empowerment and environmental conservation.

Phiri: This is a worthwhile project.

In Nsanje, alone the project will cost MK 35 Million with a combined total of MK126 Million for similar implementation in Phalombe and Nkhotakota districts.

Mejn executive director Bertha Lipipa Phiri has said the project will empower communities in varies aspects which have been affecting the targeted districts.

The project is being implemented with funding from IM Swedish Partner.

Meanwhile the project has been filed to the full council for approval.

Among other things the project will lobby the government to scale up money for climate change issues plus to champion equitable distribution of the resources on the same and empower girls and women in the issues.
